Insomnia One and Two

Insomnia One Sketch: May 2013: (c) Luke Bennette
The woman is not as feminine as I would like. There is a sharpness to the nose and the eyes give an almost anxious look of uncertainty as she lies in bed. Yet there is still a very strong effect from seeing the scenery around her, which is peaceful, give us a clue to the fact that she is unable to rest and is thinking of something or someone.

Insomnia Two Sketch: May 2013: (c) Luke Bennette
Perhaps overly simplistic in his features the young man is given to far to much thought; thinking of something or someone. The arm is a bit off with regards to shape, although it is not a bad first attempt at drawing an individual lying down.

Insomnia One Colored: May 2013: (c) Luke Bennette
If you notice that the primary colors in this picture are red you will also notice that they make the peach colored face pop out a bit. The coloration on the walls and the small garden were meant to spruce the place up as a beautiful sitting room, almost like a windowsill.

The color is somewhat jumpy and stark when you consider the previous photo. The most noticeable difference between the sketch and the colored is the coloration on the desk and the fire like colors on the wall as part of the decor.

Insomnia One Digital: May 2013: (c) Luke Bennette
The digital version uses a vignette to heighten the color scheme and to give a dull and hazy overcast afternoon look.

It is morning and he is just waking up. The sun has woken him just as he has been drifting off to sleep and now prevents him from getting any real sleep as he had hoped for.
